Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta 12 Ada Street Harris Park NSW 2150 – Truck Driver suffering from back pain

truck driver suffering from back pain

Truck Driver suffering from back pain

Hi. My name is Ajit and I am an Australian Physiotherapist.

Since you’re here, you may have heard how I have helped a lot of patients over the years become pain free. A lot of patients I have treated are current drivers or at some stage driven a vehicle for work.

Truck driving can be a stressful job which comes with certain levels of mental and physical problems. Unfortunately, back pain is one of these conditions and is a common problem among truck drivers. Truck drivers sit in a truck for many hours each day. They have limited mobility in the cab of their trucks. In addition to this there are accidents, falls and the possibility that they will over exert themselves with heavy lifting.

I have found a solution for helping drivers get rid of back pain, to keep their pain gone, and to feel as fit as you were before you started driving. I have refined this secret method over the years as a Physiotherapist and I would like to share it with you just like I have with so many others who have been in your position.

Many of these drivers are now running, exercising, going to the gym and doing things they didn’t think would be possible in their lives because of their back pain.

I would love to share my secret with you on how to get rid of your back pain and keep it gone. It doesn’t take long, it isn’t hard, there is no magic pill and it is something that anyone can do. In fact you can do it in only 5 minutes a day.

Find out how I help my private and corporate clients become pain free. The majority of these clients suffer from back pain just like you. By diagnosing their pain based on my secret formula they get fast results, and feel much better in only 5 consultations using hands on Physiotherapy techniques. No gimmicks. No pills. No unnecessary scans.

Once the pain is gone I will give you simple exercises and strategies to keep your pain gone, which will take less than 5 minutes per day, perfect for the busy truck driver.

I look forward to helping you on your journey to pain relief.

Specialized Treatment For Whiplash Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta 12 Ada Street Harris Park NSW 2150
Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta 12 Ada Street Harris Park NSW 2150: Specialized Treatment For Whiplash Physiotherapy

Specialized Treatment For Whiplash Physiotherapy

Whiplash is the most common condition experienced by people after various types of motor vehicle accidents. This includes car accidents, motor bike accidents and truck accidents. Whiplash treatments vary from patient to patient depending on the severity of the injury. Physiotherapy for whiplash is often a common recommendation on your assessment with your GP. Physiotherapy for whiplash can help reduce the symptoms and severity of the condition when used with other treatment methods as well and can reduce the length of time that a patient is affected by whiplash.

What is Whiplash?

Whiplash is a term that describes a range of head and neck injuries resulting from hyperextension and hyperflexion of the spine. Most commonly, this means when your body is moving forward and suddenly stops, your head jerks forward and backwards in a very fast motion. This condition is most often associated with car accidents such as rear end collisions, but any forceful blow to the head or body is capable of causing whiplash.

When this motion occurs, the bones in the neck become an abnormal S-shape rather than a natural curved C-shape. This causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in the neck, face, and head that can get progressively worse and last for weeks before dissipating. There may also be cognitive effects, such as dizziness, memory problems, and difficulty concentrating. In some cases, the effects of whiplash are felt longer or more severely and more aggressive treatments are required.

Whiplash Treatments

Symptoms of a whiplash may or may not improve over time. The symptoms may go away on its own after a few days or a couple weeks with treatment. It should be treated carefully and under the supervision of a Physiotherapist. Basic at home treatment options include using an heat or ice pack immediately after the accident in 5-10 minute intervals, following it after a couple days with a heating pad or hot towel. Over the counter painkillers can also be effective for reducing stiffness and pain. In some cases, a soft foam collar may be beneficial. A physiotherapist can help determine other exercises or treatment methods that will help alleviate whiplash.

It’s important to seek further medical attention if the symptoms don’t disappear in this time period, if the pain spreads to shoulders and arms, or you experience numbness and tingling. Symptoms can dramatically improve with the right medical advice and other treatments like physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy for Whiplash

Various physiotherapy treatments can be used for whiplash to help reduce the symptoms and severity of the condition. Whiplash physiotherapy treatments can include:

  • Manual therapy
  • Massage therapy
  • Tissue manipulation
  • Stretches
  • Taping and bracing
  • Electrotherapy
  • Dry needling
  • Exercise recommendations
  • Posture correction
  • Health and lifestyle advice

The earlier the Physiotherapy starts after the event, the better. Physiotherapy is imperative to prevent lasting damage and chronic pain from the condition. Without proper treatment, whiplash can deviate into other more serious conditions, such as chronic whiplash, concussion, joint disfunction, disc herniation, and permanent faulty movement patterns and posture. Physiotherapy for whiplash will help reduce the likelihood of these conditions. If you’ve been involved in a motor vehicle accident resulting in a whiplash recently or are suffering from chronic whiplash, contact us today. We can help find a whiplash treatment plan that is right for you and help you alleviate the symptoms.

Physiotherapy Post Surgery

The period of time following a surgery creates a lot of challenges to any patient. Whether it was a simple surgery or complex and invasive, there will often be a long recovery period while your body tries to heal from the injury or affliction, and the surgery itself.

It can be difficult for a patient to rest and wait for the body to recover before they can return to their normal level of functioning. Physiotherapy with Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta can help you reach this level as quickly as possible, while minimizing any side effects or complications from the surgery.

We understand how hard this can be for many people. In some cases, people try to jump back into their normal routine and movement too quickly after surgery and can cause more damage and complications. We are committed to finding treatment options that will improve your mobility, reduce your pain, and return to your highest level of functioning post-surgery.

We offer physiotherapy for the following areas post-surgery, among others:

  • Shoulder
  • Elbow
  • Wrist / Hand
  • Hip
  • Knee
  • Calf

We are committed to providing you with the best recovery experience possible.

The Approaches and Techniques

We will work with you over the long-term to ensure that your rehabilitation and care is complete. Treatment as well as future injury prevention are key for successful physiotherapy post-surgery. Being unable to live at your highest form of functioning can take a toll on your mental well-being as well. We know that your mind and body are intrinsically linked and we will work to keep both healthy and happy.

Our Therapy and Recommendations

Our Physiotherapists can perform a number of customized therapies depending on your needs. Recovery extends beyond the clinic, which is why we can also make recommendations for you to implement into your daily life as well to help aid in your recovery.

Our physiotherapists can provide the physiotherapy after surgery to help with:

  • Restore mobility
  • Strengthen weakened muscles from disuse
  • Improve co-ordination
  • Increase range of motion and flexibility

After surgery, it’s important to take recovery slowly. Our Physiotherapists can customize a treatment plan depending on which of these aspects you need to focus on the most. With hands on therapy, massage therapy, stretching, manual therapy, dry needling, medication, assistive devices, and more, we can find a therapy that’s right for you.

In addition to therapies performed in our clinic, there are a number of recommendations our Physiotherapists can make depending on your lifestyle and particular challenges. Recommended stretches or exercises for after surgery, diet, or daily practices can help your body stretch and your mind relax to help with the recovery process. We look at your entire lifestyle when making recommendations and choosing therapy to choose the practices that will make the biggest impact and help with the fastest, safest recovery after your surgery.

Physiotherapy for Work Related Injuries

Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta 12 Ada Street Harris Park NSW 2150
Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta 12 Ada Street Harris Park NSW 2150: Physiotherapy for Work Related Injuries

Being involved in a work related injury causes stress for a number of reasons. It can be difficult to navigate the work cover claims process. You have to cope with taking time off work. You have to treat your injury. While taking a physical toll on you, it also takes an emotional and mental toll on your well-being. Further, not all workplace injuries result from an accident, such as back and muscle strain, repetitive strain, tendonitis, or carpal tunnel.

One of the steps to take towards healing after any workplace injury is Physiotherapy. Our trained physiotherapists can help with a variety of injuries. Our goal is to help you return to your normal level of functioning and importantly, help you return back to work.

Our Approach and Technique

Depending on the injury, Physiotherapy can involve a variety of approaches and techniques to provide the best treatment. First, we provide an assessment with the patient to identify the help that is required, short and long term goals, and the best methods for treatment.

Our Physiotherapy for work-related injuries can help:

  • Relieve pain and stiffness
  • Improve strength and flexibility
  • Improve function
  • Provide ergonomic and lifestyle advice
  • Coordinate your return to work
  • Offering mobility aids

To get you back to work and functioning at your highest level, our Physiotherapists will work closely with you, building a personal relationship, and focusing on all factors affecting your injury. We know this is a difficult time and we will work to help you feel better both physically and mentally.

Part of the Physiotherapy process is in education. We can provide advice about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including exercise and nutrition. Being unable to work is a huge lifestyle change, and it’s important to keep good health during this transition in order for your body to heal quickly.

There are various types of Physiotherapy that can be performed depending on the injury. Hands on therapy which can include massage therapy, enhancing circulation, dry needling, promoting relaxation, and pain management, to name a few. With the right program, we know that you will be able to help you get back to work as soon as possible.

Return to Work Training

We also perform return to work training to help you get back to your job after a work-related injury or accident. This focuses on simulated work activities to restore the physical capabilities required for your job using goal-oriented techniques. It provides a transition between in-clinic care and a patient’s full return to work. Using tools and an environment similar to the work environment, we can help you build endurance and tolerance for a standard work day.

The methods for each patient will differ depending on the type of work that they perform. We work with you to create fully customized plans to ensure that we can measure abilities accurately. We have a variety of equipment available to suit the needs of our patients.

Return to work training is often a necessary step in a Physiotherapy program to get you back to work. You will be comfortable, prepared, and feel ready to take on your pre-injury tasks and job.

Is Physiotherapy covered by the NDIS?

Physiotherapy services are covered by the NDIS. Physiotherapy can exist in various sections of your NDIS plan, as a core support or as a capacity-building support.

To understand more about the various sections, have a look at some examples of an NDIS plan.

Physiotherapists can provide treatment and advice to support a number of disabilities and chronic conditions, such as:

  • Physical disabilities (amputations, post-surgery)
  • Intellectual and psychosocial disabilities
  • Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Acquired brain injuries (ABI’s)
  • Neurological injuries
  • Genetic and chromosomal disorders
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Strokes
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Spinal cord injuries

NDIS Physiotherapy Providers

Many physiotherapists throughout Australia are now registered providers with the NDIS. If your plan is agency, or NDIS managed, you must receive your physiotherapy services through a registered provider.

However, if your NDIS plan is self-managed, you can choose any qualified physiotherapist you wish to provide your services.

If you are trying to determine whether a physio is registered with the NDIS, it is likely that they will state this on their website. Alternatively, you can find out by giving them a call.

Different types of funding:

  • Self-managed: Participant pays for the service and claims it back from the NDIS (Depending on funding in their plan)
  • Plan-managed: A manager chosen by the participant looks after the plan funding
  • NDIA managed: If the clinic is registered with the NDIS (Like we are), we can directly claim the session fees on your behlalf

Plan-managed budget

Where the participant has a plan manager, service bookings will be created in this order:

  1. A standard service booking for the plan manager to claim the financial intermediaries supports they have delivered to the participant;
  2. Plan-managed service bookings for each of the participant’s funded supports.

Where a plan manager has already been appointed for a participant, the plan manager arranges payment to service providers on behalf of the participant.

Self-managed participants

Participants who are self-managing their plan are invoiced by, and pay, providers directly.

Participants need a receipt from the provider to acquit the expenditure against their plan using the myplace participant portal.

NDIA Managed Participants

We are accredited to provide services to NDIA managed participants at our clinic.

Service Agreements- Required for all NDIA Managed Participants

Service agreements help make sure the participant and provider have the same expectations of what supports will be delivered and how they will be delivered.

Service agreements need to include:

  • What supports and services the provider agrees to provide.
  • The cost of those supports and services.
  • How, when and where you would like your supports and services to be provided.
  • How long you need the supports and services to be provided.

  • How any problems or issues that may arise will be handled.
  • Your responsibilities under the service agreement – such as letting your provider know if you can’t make an appointment.
  • The provider’s cancellation policy.
  • Your provider’s responsibilities – such as working with you to deliver your supports and services in the right way.
  • How you or your provider may change or end the service agreement.

Physiotherapy Treatment For Car Accident Injuries Parramatta

Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta 12 Ada Street Harris Park NSW 2150
Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta 12 Ada Street Harris Park NSW 2150: Physiotherapy Treatment For Car Accident Injuries Parramatta

Physiotherapy Treatment For Car Accident Injuries Parramatta

If you were injured in a Car Accident you are probably wondering, do I Need to see a Physiotherapist?  This scenario might sound familiar: you’re driving on a rod you’ve travelled a thousand times, minding your own business, when out of nowhere, you’re involved in a motor vehicle accident at no fault of your own.

Maybe you were rear ended or t-boned. In any event, your car has sustained serious damage, and you didn’t come out of the experience unscathed, either.

You might think you are fine at the time of accident as your brain is full of hormones responsible for the flight or fight reaction. A few hours pass and you realise you’re suffering from pain in your neck, in your back, in your ribs, possibly in your knees. Someone tells you, you might have whiplash.

You start to develop neural symptoms such as numbness, pins and needles and shooting pain. You don’t think much of it as you are strong and you need to get things done. A few days pass and now even just sitting at work, or playing with the kids is getting harder and harder. You finally decide to take action.

So what do you do next

Who Should You See After a Car Accident?

In Australia, before receiving Physiotherapy Treatment For Car Accident Injuries you must see a GP (doctor) after your motor vehicle accident to start the compulsory third party – CTP claims process. All medical expenses and any out of pocket expenses such as lost wages, medical expenses, medications and scans are all covered under CTP insurance scheme.

Who do you see next? – a Physiotherapist.

In order to understand whether Physiotherapy treatments are better for you, it’s important to know what Physiotherapists do.

Physiotherapists diagnose and treat mechanical disorders in the musculoskeletal system. Physiotherapists focus on providing treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, helping you minimise pain without the use of multiple scans, medications or un necessary trips to the doctors.

After a car accident, you’re in pain and in shock. You’re most likely also receiving a great deal of advice from well-intentioned friends, family, and colleagues. That advice is probably also conflicting. “See a Chiropractor!” “Don’t see a Chiropractor – you need Physiotherapy!” What should you do?

For a start, listen to their recommendations and assess them according to what’s in your best interest. Also, unless these people have been in your situation, they might not know exactly what the right thing for you is. Bear in mind that going to a Physiotherapist might result in faster care. You’ll need to see your GP first regardless to ensure you haven’t seriously injured yourself from a motor vehicle accident.

A Physiotherapist is trained to provide you with personalised care after your motor vehicle accident. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Your Physiotherapist will examine you carefully to determine what your injuries are and their extent. In addition, Physiotherapist care is holistic in nature. That means that your Physiotherapist will look at your whole body, not just your back or neck. The treatment they prescribe helps you as a whole feel better now and in the future.

Thirdly, you should be aware that if left untreated or not treated properly, pain from whiplash or other injuries stemming from your car accident can last for years. There’s a better chance that a Physiotherapist can provide you with the follow-up care that you need so that you can heal and return to an active, healthy life and doing things that you love.

What If You’re Not in Pain after the Accident?

Let’s say that after your car accident, you’re not in any pain. You’re able to walk around, move your neck, stretch, even do jumping jacks. That doesn’t mean that you haven’t been injured. Within 24 hours, you might start to feel the effects of the accident. Even if you don’t feel any pain immediately after your car accident, don’t turn down a medical or Physiotherapy review. And you should most certainly see your Physiotherapist. They will examine you in detail and determine whether you’ve sustained an injury and how serious it is.

Experienced Physiotherapists for Car Accident Treatment

If you’ve been in a car accident, a Physiotherapist can help you recover from painful injuries such as whiplash. Physiotherapists can provide the long-term follow-up care you need that will ensure you heal properly, and a Physiotherapist treats the whole person, not just particular body parts.

Our experienced Physiotherapists at Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta , practices a wealth of services, treatment options, and procedures that help to restore patients to their healthy selves. Get in touch with the clinic and we look forward to helping you.

  4. Focus on getting better. We will work on your behalf to manage all reporting and documentation required to continue your claim, and to ensure that you get the necessary treatment you need.

WHIPLASH ASSOCIATED DISORDERS

Neck injuries and related disorders caused by motor vehicle accidents are classified as whiplash-associated disorders are graded on a scale of I – IV (with IV being the worst). Grade I-III whiplash injuries are treated through Physiotherapy and patient education. Over-the-counter muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatories can also be beneficial for some patients.

Whiplash is one of the most common injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents, and accordingly, it is also one of the most common MVA insurance injury claims.

Whiplash can also be one of the more challenging injuries to treat. Success rates are very high, but a small subgroup of patients that appear outwardly ‘typical’, do not recover in a timely manner, instead experiencing prolonged or even chronic pain and disability. See our post: “Why Whiplash Treatment Can Fail”.

How can I increase my chance of whiplash treatment success?

  1. Keep active in your daily life, and continue working if possible.
  2. Keep optimistic about your recovery.
  3. With the help of your Physiotherapist, set realistic expectations about your outcome, and discuss your progress and symptoms at every visit.
  4. Request a multi-modal Physiotherapy program that includes exercise therapy, patient education, and hands-on treatment as well as other therapies where appropriate.
  5. Establish a home-exercise therapy program with your Physiotherapist and stick with it.

Information for Home Care Providers

Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta are able to provide you with Physiotherapy services on behalf of your Home Care Package providers. Home Care Package funding is issued by the federal government to an older person to provide services which will enable them to continue to live independently. Please speak with your home care package provider to discuss your eligibility to receive Physiotherapy services.

The funding that the patient receives through their Home Care Package can be used on a wide range of nursing services, care services, social, support and well-being services, as well as on some types of equipment and home modification, to enable them to live safely and well at home. When your Physiotherapist delivers services as part of a Home Care Package, they liaise with the Home Care Package Provider to do so.

Physiotherapy Professionals Parramatta provides in-home care to patients in their own homes, in retirement homes, and in residential aged care facilities.

Visits conducted on behalf of Home Care Providers are conducted differently to normal clinical visits – be sure to familiarise yourself with these important factors.
