Knee Rehabilitation Program
Advanced Knee Rehabilitation Program
Injuries can happen unexpectedly any time. Rest assured, having the right team of experienced health professionals is critical in making sure you are getting the right treatment to get you back to your pre injury levels. The following exercises are part of the advanced knee rehabilitation program done to achieve return to work conditioning.
The aim of these exercise is to strengthen lower limb muscles which often become weak from lack of use after injury or surgery.
Case study:
David is a 35 year old man who sustained a fall while at work. Due to impact from the fall, he sustained a fracture affecting his knee joint and a ligament rupture associated with his initial injury.
Due to restrictions post surgery, David was non weight bearing for 12 weeks before Physiotherapy treatment could start. Not taking weight through his leg meant there was a lot of weakness which developed over the 12 weeks.
The exercises below are part of the advanced knee rehabilitation program which allowed David to return to work with suitable duties. The type of exercises and the level of rehabilitation required depends on a particular person’s type of work. For example, an office worker who rarely lifts would not need to build high levels of strength before returning to work. Where as a person who regularly lifts 15-20 Kg boxes would require much more strength before returning to work.
