Are you suffering from sitting pain? We all know we need to be more active, but there is increasing evidence that we also need to spend less time sitting down. The Australian Heat Foundation recommends 30 minutes of moderate exercise on most days to reduce risks of ill health from inactivity.
Studies have linked excessive sitting with being overweight and obese, type 2 diabetes and even some type of cancers. Sitting for long periods slows our metabolic rate, which affects the body’s ability to regulate blood sugar, blood pressure and break down body fat. Not to mention added effects of lower back issues.
With advances in technology, both adults and children are now spending more time in sitting or lying, And this typically increases with age. This includes watching TV, using a computer, reading, doing homework, travelling by car, bus or train but does not include sleeping.
